ARTIST/WEEK 42/2011: Aaron Smith
Los Angeles based artist, Aaron Smith, works out of his Silverlake, California home creating these magnificent plays on Victorian “dandyism”. His recent work is known for its depictions of late 18th and early 19th century masculinity via a luxuriant use of color and texture, resulting in breathtaking work, in a style that is all his own. Smith’s work has been displayed in Los Angeles, Chicago and New York. He was the first artist in residence at the J. paul Getty museum and is an associate chair at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, where he studied.
